KELLI YOUNG
Singer, Songwriter from Liberty X.
Kelli trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, aged just 16.
In 2000, aged 18, Kelli entered the TV talent show “Popstars” where she made it to the final 10 contestants, subsequently forming the pop group Liberty X. Co-writing their first top 5 hit
“Thinking It Over” in 2001, she then went on to have a string of top 10 hits with the group, between 2001 and 2007, including the smash hit no.1 single, “Just A Little”.
Liberty X had 8 Top Ten hits and enjoyed chart success in many countries across the globe, had a sell-out UK tour and won awards including the Smash Hits Award, Disney Award, BRIT Award and the Ivor Novello Award. Kelli co-wrote many songs for Liberty X as well as for other international artists.
Additionally, during her time in the group, Kelli presented on MTV, VH1, ITV and the BBC, interviewing Britney Spears amongst many other stars on the popular SM:TV. She also made numerous solo TV appearances on shows including Celebrity Mastermind, The Weakest Link, Total Wipeout, Pointless and Britain Sings Christmas.
In 2011, Kelli developed her one woman “Divas” show, taking it on to Royal Caribbean’s “Independence of the Seas” which, at the time, was one of their largest cruise ships.
In the same year she married fellow singer/songwriter Iain James, and they welcomed twin boys into the world in 2012.
In 2013, Kelli re-joined Liberty X for ITV hit show The Big Reunion, enjoying 2 sell out UK tours as part of the line-up.
Since then, Kelli has toured Australia with the now “all girl” line up of Liberty X, appeared multiple times as a guest presenter on ITV's "Loose Women", appeared as Tiger Lily in “Peter Pan” at the
Pomegranate Theatre, Chesterfield (2018) and Fairy Godmother in “Cinderella” at the
Shaw Theatre, London (2019).
In 2022, Kelli devised and presented a piece on regional Pride events for BBC’s Morning Live and has more recently appeared on the BBC’s - Pointless Celebrities Allstars episode after winning 2 trophies!
In the last few years, as part of Liberty X, Kelli completed the “90’s Baby” - a multi-act tour of arenas and large venues featuring some of the biggest pop acts of the 90’s and 00’s.
As well as many Pride events (including Manchester, Birmingham & Leeds Pride), outdoor family festivals across the UK and the acclaimed Mighty Hoopla festival in London as well as festivals across Europe and the Middle East.
